The word

TABOON

طابون

tah·boon  ·  clay oven

A domed clay oven, fired low and slow, that has shaped Levantine kitchens for generations — the place where bread is baked, herbs are warmed, and the kettle is never far. We named our tea after it because that's where the ritual begins: bread out of the taboon, tea on the tray, family at the table.

Rooted in the Levantine table

A family tea ritual, from our home to yours.

A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER

Salam • سلام

I grew up in a home where tea was never just tea. We called it shay (شاي), and it was at the center of nearly every gathering. It was the kettle on the stove the moment someone walked through the door. In the mornings, it was often paired with fresh taboon bread, olive oil, and za’atar spread across the table. More than a drink, tea was a staple of family and friend gatherings a reason to slow down, share stories, and enjoy each other’s company.

The tea I grew up drinking was simple: black tea steeped with either sage or mint, brewed the same way for generations. It was warm, familiar, and always waiting for you. When I created Taboon & Tea, I wanted to honor that tradition while adding a modern twist. By thoughtfully blending spices and botanicals with the comforting flavors I grew up with, I created teas that feel both nostalgic and new, bringing warmth, comfort, and a sense of home to every cup. Our blends are inspired by the rhythms of the day. Sabah Al-Khair (صباح الخير) the traditional Arabic greeting for “Good Morning.” Crafted to bring warmth and brightness to the start of your day, it’s a blend meant to be enjoyed during quiet mornings, meaningful conversations, and the moments that set the tone for the day ahead.

Tisbah Ala Khair (تصبح على خير) is the traditional Arabic expression for “Good Night.” Created as a calming evening ritual, it’s designed to help you slow down, unwind, and end the day with comfort and warmth. Every blend is handcrafted in small batches in Texas with the hope that it brings people together, just as tea always did in my home. My hope is that every brew becomes an invitation to gather and create memories of your own. Because some of life’s best conversations begin with a warm cup of tea.

tastes like teta's kitchen

I haven't had tea this close to my grandmother's in twenty years. The cardamom is real, the mint is real, and the first cup actually made me call my mom.

I absolutely love it!

I recently tried the Good Night tea, and I absolutely loved it! The flavor is smooth, rich, comforting and well balanced! You can tell a lot of care went into creating it. I high recommend to anyone looking for a tea that tastes amazing. I'll definitely be ordering more!

the nightcap I didn't know I needed

The anise-mint blend at night has fully replaced my screen time before bed. It smells like my mother's house in Beirut. I bought four boxes for my sisters.

finally — not the dusty stuff

Every other 'Middle Eastern' tea I've bought in the US was stale and over-spiced. This one is fresh and balanced. You can taste each ingredient instead of one giant cinnamon hit.

made me homesick in the best way

Steeped it slow like my dad taught me, poured it into the tiny glasses. One sip and I was eight years old at my jiddo's house in Nablus. Worth every cent.

the hosting upgrade

Started serving this when friends come over. Now they ask for it before they ask for food. Sourcing is clearly serious — you can smell it the moment you open the bag.

The Ritual

Three quiet steps. One warming cup.

01

Steep slow

Bring water just below a boil. Steep 4–5 minutes to let the cardamom, cinnamon, and cloves bloom.

02

Pour generous

Pour into small glasses, the Levantine way. The first cup is always for the guest.

03

Sit longer

Pair Good Morning with taboon bread, olive oil and za'atar. Good Night with quiet and a long exhale.
